Daydream Project Artist Statement
This project was inspired by some of my experiences throughout the last year. I loved the idea of really emphasizing the need for escape I have had this year. Throughout the last year in my experience many things have just gotten even more crazy home, it feels like there is so much to do, this I emphasized in the beginning of my film. Throughout the year, many people including myself have turned to substances for some escape from the monotony of life at home. I wanted to create this world that was this complete trip from reality, to that I used color to emphasize the shift to this new world. Everything feels a bit more odd and different here, from the emphasis on eyes to the hands. Everything is a bit more twisted. In my childhood I was always really inspired by Fantasia and Alice in Wonderland, for this project I wanted to reference and play on Fantasia but change it to make it more adult/trippy.
