Soundscape Project Artist Statement
For this project, I really wanted to create an experience that was not enjoyable or calming at all. The idea came to me one night as I was working on like 3 different projects at the same time, and it became overwhelming trying to keep track of everything. In general, over this last year I have actually taken on more projects and jobs as I can now do them more easily from my home. I find it ironic because you would think that being at home would make people slow down and make employers take a pause on work. However, I think in many instances work has only increased. In particular I really wanted to highlight the keyboard clicking noises and notification sounds because that has really become my everyday routine and life. My ultimate goal for this project was to take something that does not seem like art at all and turn it into something that makes us question the importance of work. Or perhaps highlight this almost musical element of my day to day work from home routine.
