Soundscape Critique

Soundscape Critique

Name: Mike

  • I enjoyed how the track felt like a journey with different beginning, middle and end parts,

  • I felt like maybe adding more layers or overlapping the sounds could have helped strengthen the piece, it felt very separate.

  • Relaxing and calm, it felt like I was maybe in the jungle or some peaceful new planet.

Name: Rob

  • I enjoyed the buildup of the sounds, it was a really chilling buildup. It felt very cinematic in the beginning, especially with the loins gongs and this underneath sound that built up.

  • The piece threw me off for a bit because it went from having this strong sound throughout that build up but then it just went to a creek noise. I wasn’t entirely sure what that was.

  • It made me feel like I was in some sort of buildup to a battle, it made me feel this intense pressure.

Name: Alki

  • The piece felt very musical to me, there was this constant beat or sound throughout that really carried a story of intensity and it was a little haunting.

  • I really enjoyed the story and I enjoyed this one moment really had this nice break, I thought that maybe could have been expanded a bit to emphasize the story.

  • The soundscape gave me this feeling of like a crime scene, or that there was some haunting event taking place surrounding me. It made me feel almost very medical like.

Name: Jeremey

  • I really enjoyed how the story took us to different parts; they were very clear and distinct. Loved the journey from like the natural world into a human experience.

  • I thought there were parts

  • I felt like I went from going outside in and then I went to a stressful fight between people

Name: Cal

  • I enjoyed the layering of sounds, there was this haunting feeling from the music below, but then I could hear things around me.

  • I felt like the echoing baby laugh at the end kinda threw me off, since it seemed to go back to being happy.

  • The feeling made me feel like I was in a haunted church

Name: Julia

  • I enjoyed the record bits you put in with your actual baby, I think that told a very clear story of being a mom.

  • I think the story made very clear sense and worked well but perhaps adding in some of the effects and layering those could have advanced the story. Or maybe adding some sort of twist we did not see coming.

  • The feeling was very maternal, it felt very clear that it was a mom experience.

Name: Hannah

  • I enjoyed the buildup of the steps in the beginning of the track, that helped make it very clear that I was listening to the hike. And then there was this creepy ending like i was being chased that felt very clear to me.

  • Maybe layering some of the more natural sounds at the beginning could helped strengthen it even more.

  • It made me feel like I was on a hike out in nature, it felt very natural and calming.

Name: Caden

  • For the soundscape I enjoyed the linear story of making breakfast/getting ready for the day, and then like driving away.

  • To strengthen it, i thought maybe some utilization of echos and other effects could have dramaticized the storytelling. I was also a bit confused by the snoring/breathing element too.

  • I felt like I was in a kitchen, maybe getting ready food the day, but there was something creepy.

Name: Tasia

  • I love the almost harp sound. It added this really cool calm vibe to it, but it made it this more conceptual. It felt like a string of thoughts.

  • There was one part where it seemed like there was cooking with a microwave and it seemed a bit unexpected and choppy, like right before I guess the story wasn’t as clear to me.

  • I felt like I was in the middle of her workday, like a very clam day of sitting and thinking.

Name: Brendan

  • I loved the snippets where is asked if someone wanted a beverage, it was nice breaks.

  • I wasn't entirely sure what the narrative was, I got clues that it was related to a beverage with the sound and explicitly saying but I wasn't sure what the beginning, middle and end were.

  • It made me feel like I was maybe at some sort of coffee shop or something, or that someone was making a cup of coffee/drink.

Name: Jordan

  • I loved your layering of sounds that added a creepy feeling. There were like steps and breathing layered together at one part and it made me feel like someone was behind me. And I loved the almost ghost sounds at the beginning

  • There were these really cool tech sounding sounds at the end, I think it could have been cool to mix those in a little bit and not just have them at the very end.

  • The feeling I got was that I was in some sort of haunted church or something.

Name: Jake

  • I loved the buildup of this trip. It was very clear, and I loved the concept of a trip since it took us so many places, and I loved the distorted effects and voice.

  • I loved the trippy voice, but maybe a mix of a different voice not just messing with the frequencies could have taken us to several different places on this trip.

  • The feeling I got was very drug related, I felt like I was on some high feeling.

Name: Maggie

  • I enjoyed the trippy almost dream-like effects with the echos you put on the sounds with the baby crying it made it feel really spooky.

  • I felt like the beginning of the track with the coffee seemed a little disconnected from the end. I was confused about how I got to the trippy dream-like space.

  • The feeling I got was someone maybe waking up in some sort of haze.

Name: Anjali

  • I enjoyed the cool undertone of the sound/music below all your traps, it made me feel really calm. And it added a nice atmospheric element to the track with all the layers built on top.

  • I think it was supposed to emulate, I think maybe something unexpected could have been nice or maybe more emphasis on the coffee sound throughout.

  • The feeling felt like a calm morning at a cafe, maybe with a cat I kept hearing bells jingle.

Name: Dzifah

  • I loved the parts where there was layering and I could hear several different kitchen sounds at the same time, it created a nice storytelling element.

  • I think the piece could have been stronger with maybe some more layers underneath, to really create that atmosphere of a kitchen. I enjoyed the parts where there was several different kitchen appliances layered on top of each other

  • The feeling I got was that I was in some kind of kitchen environment.

Name: Michael

  • I loved the guitar strumming and chords throughout, I think the captured a strong feeling and carried this cohesive feeling throughout the piece.

  • I thought the scratching pen throughout got a bit distracting throughout the piece. I loved the ending though.

  • The vibes felt very chill but bright, almost very calming and cool

Name: Megan

  • I loved the effect of the drips and dripping water, I think water is such a powerful sound and invokes such a calming feeling.

  • I loved the hums, I thought it could be cool of they carried out throughout more of the piece, maybe just a lower volume.

  • It was very haunting yet calm at the same time.

Name: Gavin

  • I loved the chatter of the people and the use of the baby noise created a really cool human space.

  • Maybe some manipulation of the sounds could have made a more dramatic effect

  • I got this vibe that I was in some sort of public space where people are coming and going .

Name: Jacob

  • I loved the manipulation of the sounds; it made it feel very dream-like with the haunting music below and these almost gasps. And I like how in a dream ballet you took us to different places.

  • I enjoyed when you would snap us in and out of places in this high/dream. In the middle I feel that got a little lost and I would have loved to see that emphasized.

  • It felt trippy, and almost spooky too. Like I was going back and forth between the two.

Name: Sarah

  • I love the layering of several sounds to create this environment with chatter and almost white noise.

  • I would have loved it if there were some peaks and valleys, it felt a little flat. Maybe a bit more intentional storytelling.

  • I felt like I was in a jungle or a yoga studio

Name: Calvin

  • I loved the reputation of sounds in particular the drip sound, drips are so haunting and eerie.

  • I honestly thought this was really good, I am kinda struggling to think of what more you could do. The only thing was maybe thinking of it more as storytelling since it felt pretty similar throughout.

  • I felt like I was in some creepy ass cave, there was this haunting feeling or being around me.

Name: Alan

  • I really liked the creepy feeling that you created with the baby and the dog layers on top of one another.

  • To strengthen it I might have adjusted the volume at parts, it got really loud and intense at parts, kinda gets lost.

  • I got like creepy murder vibes haha
